A Chuck Christmas: The Return of Daniel Shaw, the "Muahaha" Theif

Brandon Routh, Chuck Have Chuck and Sarah been naughty this season? On Friday's Chuck (8/7c, NBC), it appears like Santa is getting them something far worse than the usual lump of coal: their old enemy Daniel Shaw! "We desired to perform a Christmas story, and xmas is really a vacation that's haunted, as with the Charles Dickens tradition," Chuck co-creator Chris Fedak informs reporters throughout a December set visit. "We thought, 'Let's bring a monster from your past.' In the finish of Season 3, Brandon [Routh] was this type of good 'muahaha' theif. I had been like, I have reached restore the 'muahaha.'" Rogue agent Daniel Shaw (guest star Brandon Routh) has had two photoshopped deaths on the program, and last we had him, he was bumped out cold within the Buy More before Morgan (Joshua Gomez) accidentally detonated a explosive device grown there. It's assumed that Shaw was taken into CIA custody of the children off-screen prior to the store skyrocketed. "He died a few occasions. Well, not necessarily. He's tough," states Zachary Levi, whose character Chuck includes a bitter history with Shaw, both personally and appropriately. Not just did he kill Chuck's father (Scott Bakula), but younger crowd once dated and then attempted to kill Sarah (Yvonne Strahovski). "Other criminals we have had on the program, like Roark or Volkoff are various kinds of opponents. It's much more of a 'How does they, together, take lower this empire?' instead of just that one guy and the vendetta. Frenemies," Levi continues. "As well as, you realize, somewhat competing for that love of the identical girl which Sarah had wiped out his wife, which was very untidy. The way the fight finishes remains to appear, but Fedak is satisfied that Routh did indeed bring the "muahaha" back. "It's our most crazy, intense episodes," Fedak states.
